When you leverage the news you are simply capitalizing on the “hot” topics or current events that people are concerned about or interested in, and connecting those topics to your business. You are educating your audience and providing a solution!
You will start to look at the news headlines in a new light. Let’s face it, the news in general is very negative – because negativity sells. I choose to focus the positive because whatever you focus on that is what you will attract. No, I am not burying my head in the sand and refusing to accept reality, I simply do not believe everything that is in the news and choose to focus on solutions rather than take on the victim mentality. When you start looking at the negative news headlines with the goal of utilizing those keywords to grow your business you are now taking a negative and turning it into a positive solution.
There are two main ways you can leverage the news. You can become aware of current headlines and “hot” current topics and you can recognize a topic that is going to be big and get in front of the wave. There are obvious benefits to the later, but not always as easy.
So what are some examples?
Hot current events and keywords would be things like the recession, financial crisis, stock market down, etc. Those keywords could all be linked to a solution. Why it is important to develop multiple income streams, how to create financial stability and financial freedom, etc. Go to Google Trends to see what the current “hot” topics are.
So what about some upcoming “hot” topics? Well, I can think of a few that I’ll share. First, Ann Sieg’s is launching her latest ebook, The Attraction Marketer’s Manifesto. Having read the book already and knowing some of the plans, I expect this book to be even bigger than her two prior ebooks, The 7 Great Lies in Network Marketing and The Renegade Network Marketer. Also, MarketingMerge’s Renegade Professional training closed its doors Feb. 20th to open even bigger and better around the end of March, so expect that to be a hot topic soon as well. Another “hot” upcoming topic? VIPZE. Now you probably have not heard of VIPZE yet because they just launched Feb. 2nd, but with the explosion I have seen in social networking: MySpace, FaceBook, Twitter, etc. I expect VIPZE to become even bigger. With ViPZE you can actually get paid for people to set up free accounts and socialize online. You actually get paid for doing the things that would be of benefit to your business anyway. No other social networking company has done anything like what VIPZE is doing. ViPZE has huge potential for the entrepreneur in its ability to be integrated with ANY business.
So see the news headlines in a new light. Look for ways to connect those headlines to your business and turn the negative sensationalism into positive growth for your business. Also, keep in front of any upcoming “hot” topics and trends by subscribing to the RRS feeds of blogs with information pertinent to your business and information you see in your social networks. Make the decision to have the best year yet in your business – never mind what the headlines say!
